This an ultimate way to live a happy life.

Monday, 2 April 2012

  • Ambition should be made of sterner stuff.

  • All the world is a stage, and all the men and women merely player: they have their exists and their entrances; and one man in his time plays many parts, his acts being seven ages.

  • As he was valiant, I honored him. But as he was ambitious, I slew him.

  • And oftentimes excusing of a fault doth make the fault the worse by the excuse.

  • A  peace is of the nature of a conquest; for then both parties nobly are subdued, and neither party loses.

  • An overflow of good converts to bad.

  • A  fool thinks himself to be wise, but a wise man knows himself to be a fool.

Watch your thoughts;
they become words.

Watch your words;
they become action.

Watch your actions;
they become habits.

Watch your habits;
they become character.

Watch your character;
it becomes your destiny.

He who knows not and knows not he knows not,

he is fool-shun him;

He who knows not and knows he knows not,

he is simple-teach him;

He who knows and knows not he knows,

he is asleep-wake him;

He who knows and knows he knows,

he is wise-follow him;

  Success is a science. A student can attain success by applying that science in his studies. Following strategies for success could be very powerful in attaining Straight A's in your exams.

Strategy for Effective Listening:

1: Concentrate on what is being said. Don’t allow noise to distract you.
2: When you require clarification, ask question.
3: Recognize the feelings and style of the speaker.
4: Be aware of the implied meanings and ideas.
5: Note main ideas and summarize key points.
6: Have an open mind and be sensitive to the speaker’s point of view.

Strategy for Taking Notes:

1: Write your own notes in your own words rather than the teacher’s.
2: Listen for important facts and ideas; do not try to get down every word.
3: Date your notes and, if you use loose-leaf notes, number all pages. At the end of the term or semester you will be glad you did.
4: Keep your notes neat. It is discouraging to have to study from sloppy note-book.
5: Organize your notes as soon as possible after taking them.
6: Keep all notes on one subject together.

Strategy for Retaining What You Have Learned:

1: Each day briefly review what you have learned. In addition, conduct a weekly review of each subject.
2: After reading a chapter in a textbook, listening to lecture, or following a discussion, make a summary of it. You will discover that summarizing is an effective aid to retention.
3: As soon as often as possible try to apply what you have learned.
5: Get into the habit of reading books and articles related to what you are studying even if such reading is not required.

Strategy for Deciding When to Study:

1: Prepare a timetable that clearly indicates when you will study and when you will be occupied with other regular commitments or recreational activities.
2: Adjust your timetable until it is just right for a particular semester or school year. Setting unrealistic goal will only discourage you.
3: When doing your work, divide lengthy or difficult assignments into short, manageable units.
4: After completing a unit, use a short break to reward yourself. If you sit at your desk hour after hours, your mind will start to wander.
5: If certain facts or details must be memorized, do not try to memorize all of them at one time.
6: When you have completed the rough copy for a written assignment, wait a day before you edit and start with the final draft.

Strategy for Choosing a Place to Study:

1: As much as possible, do your studying in one particular place.
2: Make sure that your place of study has good lighting. Using a bright desk light in an otherwise darker room will tire your eyes.
3: Keep the top of your desk uncluttered.
4: Eliminating distracting noises such as the sound of radio or television. A low, regular background noise may help you to concentrate.

Strategy for doing Homework and home study:

1: Homework is an extension of the work done at school. Its purpose is to apply and reinforcement what you are learning. Make it a habit to do homework every school day.
2: Home study broadens your horizons beyond your studies, courses or assignments. If you have no homework, or if you have time left after your homework is done, research a topic of your own choice for your personal enrichment. Home study gives you an opportunity to excel.

They never taste who always drink!
They always talk who never think.

What though the field be lost?
All is not lost; the unconquerable will,
And study of revenge, immortal hate,
And courage never to submit or yield;
And what is else not to be overcome;

Trust no future, how e'er pleasant
Let the dead past bury its dead,
Act, act in the living present
Heart within and God overhead.

It matters not how straight the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am master of my fate;
I am the captain my soul.
(W.E. Henley: Invictus)

People say break your bad habit before it breaks you but I say break your hard problem before it breaks you. What is a problem in fact? A difficulty that needs attention and thought is called a problem (Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English). It means whenever we face a problem in our life, it needs attention and requires a thought. But how many of us can really think and act strategically to solve our problems.

Problems call forth our courage and our wisdom; indeed, they create our courage and our wisdom. It is only because of problems that we grow mentally or spiritually. When we desire to encourage the growth of the human spirit, we challenge and encourage the human capacity to solve problems.

Have we ever thought that how experts solve the problems they face in their particular fields?
A scientist solves a problem in a scientific way and a mathematician solve a math’s problem by applying different formulas or breaking a large problematic sum into small parts and then solve the problem systematically by applying different simple formulas to each part. He solves a difficult math’s problem because he breaks the big problem into small parts which are easy to solve.

But in our life we do the quite opposite, I mean we add the minor problems together in our life instead of solving them by parts and ultimately our life becomes an amalgam of problems.

No big problem’s really anything but a gang of little ones.

What to do now? How can we solve a big problem?
In short, break your problem into small parts and then solve each part like an expert. Handling one part at a time makes it very easy to solve a big problem.

What to do first when we face a problem?
Accept the reality, problems are part and parcel of our life. It makes us feel that we are alive.

There is only one group of people who don't have problems and they're all dead. Problems are a sign of life. So the more problems you have, the more alive you are.

If you see your problems as curses, the motivation you're looking for in life will be hard to find. - Steve Chandler

When we see problems as opportunities for growth, we tap a source of knowledge within ourselves which carries us through.

Secondly, ponder on your problem and find out the root cause of your problem. Collect more data regarding your problem. Gathering facts won’t solve hard problem but it would help you to understand your problem.

A problem well stated is a problem half solved.

Now it’s time to solve your problem.
  • Take a piece of paper and write down your problem.
  • Now ponder on the problem and write carefully all the root causes of you problem.
  • Do some research if you are facing a technical problem. If you have a personal problem, gather some facts regarding it. It will help you to understand your problem clearly.
  • Break the problem into small parts. If you have financial problem, gather all the reasons behind your financial problem. It might be due to your lower salary or you extravagant behavior.
  • Now after breaking your problem into little parts, do brainstorming and jot down all the possible solutions regarding each part of your problem which will ultimately solve your whole problem.
  • In the case of financial crisis, find out different ways to increase your salary or do some research to find different sources of  passive income. If you are facing financial crisis due to your extravagant behavior then quit your extravagant lifestyle for a while.
The above mentioned technique would help you to solve most of the problems you face in your daily life. It might be your social problem , economic problem or health problem. Break your problem and solve each part of the problem keeping in view the whole problem and do not lose track of your main problem.

Who else not want to be a successful person in his life? But how many of us really do something about this. Successful people possess given below attributes, which most of us ignore in our lives.

1:Successful people know what success is:-
What is success? Success is when you get what you want. But in case of success what you want is not achieved without doing anything about that thing which you want. If you get what you want without doing anything about that thing then it is luck. But I say luck is when opportunity meets preparation. Our world is full of opportunities but we can not avail those opportunities because we do not make ourselves prepared for those opportunities. Successful people are always prepared to grab any opportunity which comes across them.

The secret of success in life is for a man to be ready for his opportunity when it comes.
2:Successful people are optimistic:-

Successful people are always optimistic and determine to achieve their goals but they know that dictionary is the only place where success comes before work. Successful people follow this formula which has been derived by Babe Didrikson Zaharias :

 The formula for success is simple: practice and concentration; then more practice and more concentration.

Practice makes a man perfect and concentration is fullest use of all one’s power. Determine your success by comparing your achievements to your potential.

You do not determine your success by comparing yourself to others; rather you determine your success by comparing your accomplishments to your capabilities. - Zig Ziglar

3:Successful people are risk taker:-

Successful people take risks but calculated risks. They spread their risk and do not put all eggs in single basket. Interesting thing about risk is that if the risk has been unsuccessful, there will be the opportunity to learn from the experience. Successful people review their progress when they have taken their first risk, it increases their confidence.

Take calculated risks. That is quite different from being rash.
 George S. Patton

Risks don't always turn out as we had hoped, but they always bring greater insight and the reward of living every day to the fullest. - Mary Kay Mueller

4:Successful people have a mentor:-

To be successful in any field, it is very important to have a mentor or choose a pacesetter. Read about the successful people in your particular field and follow their strategies. Be a fan of them and make them your mentors. Even they do not know you personally but you can follow their tricks and strategies by reading about them or by observing them. You can choose a pacesetter or competitor in your field. He must be a little better than you and learn how to beat him. The better your pacesetter, the faster you both move.

 5:Successful people strive for excellence not for perfection:-

Successful people strive for excellence rather than perfection. Perfection is often unattainable, frustrating and neurotic while excellence is attainable, gratifying and healthy. Nothing is perfect in this world but we can make ourselves excellent.

 6:Successful people are not workaholic:-
Most successful people I know work long hours but they don’t let work interfere with the really important things in life, such as friends and family. They live a balanced life. They know how to delegate their work and get some time for the spouse, kids and friends.
7:Successful people have high E.Q. level:-

Successful people have an ability to control their negative emotions. They know how to make use positive emotions. It is not necessary that they have high I.Q. level but they must have high E.Q. (emotional quotient) level.
8:Successful people management their time:-

Successful people manage their time. They don’t start with their work, they start with their time. They set daily goals keeping in mind their long-term objectives. To avoid procrastination, they set deadlines. But they keep the element of flexibility in their time management to handle urgent and important tasks. They can easily distinguish urgent but not important things in their life and avoid them. Successful people don’t spend their time on unproductive tasks.

After describing the attributes of successful people, I will end this article with these line:

Yesterday is a canceled check.
Tomorrow is a promissory note.
Today is ready cash. Use it!

While the internet is a great source of information and entertainment for kids it also exposes them to some risks. Kids are prone to risks like Invasion Of Privacy, Verbal Belligerence ( receive obnoxious comments ), Harassment or Threats, Exposure To Inappropriate Information. It is not possible for parents to be there with kids when they are using internet. But developing some rules can keep kids safe online. Keeping your kids age in mind just follow the given below suggestions and keep your kids safe online.

1:Buy a desktop computer to your kids and place it in a common area of your home. It would help you to monitor your kids’ use of computer.

2:Parents should have some know-how of using internet.

3:Write down some guidelines for your kids’ internet use on a chart paper and post it near the computer. These could be on the following topics:

  • Amount of time kids are allowed to use the internet.
  • Sites they can visit.
  • Information they should not reveal online.
  • Any information or incident which disturbs your kid should be brought to your attention.

4:Teach your kids not to share there personal information online. For example:

  • Name
  • Home address
  • Home telephone number or cell number
  • Name and location of the school
  • Personal photograph
  • Parents’ work location
  • Parents’ work telephone number
  • Credit card information
  • Email address

5:Surf internet with your kids. It would help you to know about your kids areas of interest on internet and inform you about the activities your kids do on internet. It will help you to know which social networking sites they are using, what types of data they are downloading and which games they are playing online ( some games are very violent ). It will also help you to know about the online friends of your kid.

6:Teach your kids netiquette. It is just like etiquette. Encourage your kids to communicate with others in a polite manner when they are online.

7:Parents should install software on computer to block access to offensive information on the internet. Many softwares are available online which filter out offensive sites and restrict objectionable emails.

8:Enable the history function on your browser to see which sites your kid has accessed (unless your kid has figured out how to delete the history).

9:Teach your kids that people they meet online are strangers and they are not always whom they claim to be. A sixteen-year-boy may in fact be a thirty five-year-old man. Don’t tell them your real name and always use gender-neutral screen name while talking with others in a chat room.

10:Have a joint email address with your kid to monitor her mail. Tell him not to open an unknown email attachment because opening an unknown email could harm your computer by exposing it to a virus.

11:Tell your kids to get permission before making any online purchase. It is better not to tell your kids your credit card number or check out your credit card bill for online purchase.

In this age of fast and junk foods, it is very difficult to keep yourself away from obesity but following tips would do magic.
  1. I LOVE TO EAT SWEET THINGS: How sweet! But look at the results. Your tummy is bulging out. It is because sweet things mean more calories. So stay away from fizzy drinks, chocolates, sweet meat etc.
  2. I HATE VEGETABLES: But I love vegetables, because these are a major source of fiber. What is fiber? It is that part of food which does no digest but helps in smooth passing of undigested food through our intestines. What does it do in weight loss? Food with Fiber gives you a sense of filling up and you eat less. So eat more fiber. I mean more vegetables. (Fruits are also a great source of fiber.)
  3. WHY SHOULD I DRINK MORE WATER: Drinking a glass of water before each meal fills up a large portion of your stomach and you eat less food. It suppresses your appetite and helps in quitting the habit of over eating. Now will you drink more water? I bet you will!
  4. SHOULD I HAVE SMALLER MEALS? You should, because it increases your metabolism and helps you to lose weight faster. But be careful! It should be light meal. 5-6 meals a days is good for you.
  5. IS SKIPPING A MEAL GOOD? No, No! It will have harmful effects on your body. You would suffer unbalanced gastric juices secretion, which causes acidity and other stomach problems.
  6. MORNING WALK: Last but not least, morning walk will help you to lose weight more quickly. Walk before breakfast. It will start metabolism in your body but have breakfast within an hour of walking so that your body charge itself with the energy you need for the day.

 Where is happiness? I think we can find happiness by looking inside of our own self. We look for happiness in outer world but find it nowhere. We possess the happiness in our soul and in our mind, just recall some happy moments of your life and you will be happy within few moments. Some time ignorance of bitter facts of life makes you happy. Sometime habit of forgetfulness can make you happy because you forget the harsh moments happened to you in past. So don’t look at the dark picture of your past life. Happiness is a type of satisfaction. Great poet Rummi Says:

It may be that satisfaction I need depends on my going away, so that when I’ve gone and come back, I’ll find it at home!

Therefore happiness depends upon ourselves. Happiness is that state of consciousness when we start looking at the brighter side of the life and ignore the darker side of it. The fool man seeks happiness in the distance; the wiser grows it under feet. (James Oppenheim). Be happy and just cheer up!
